Ash borer continues to expand territory

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has expanded its quarantine zone for Emerald Ash Borers yet again following the discovery of more of the pests in Quebec.

The quarantine zone now covers all of Southern Ontario and most of Southwestern Quebec.

There is a ban on moving wood outside of the quarantine zone.

On the other hand, there’s some good news about Dutch Elm disease. The City of Toronto has been planting elms and enjoying success so far with a hybrid that is more vigorous.
