Fire at Cloverleaf Farms

Fire caused more than $500,000 damage Saturday at Cloverleaf Farms meat-processing plant in New Hamburg.

Firefighters from New Hamburg, Baden and New Dundee battled the blaze for about three hours. No-one was injured.

An electrical malfunction is the likely cause.

At Wellesley, a severe thunderstorm collapsed a machinery shed where tractors, a combine and other equipment was stored. Two of the three occupants were taken by ambulance to hospital.

There were severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings in the area at the time.
